 Squirrels

Squirrel / animal of rodents, lives mostly on trees, and has a thick and large tail, has wide black eyes, and round ears. Most of its species are graceful animals, with hairy and long tails

squirrels live in tree holes; However, they build themselves special nests from twigs covered with leaves. In the northern hemisphere, squirrels build strong nests for the winter. These nests are built with dry leaves and the remains of the bark of small trees. Sometimes lichen and dry weeds are used in their construction. Thus, the overall structure of the nest becomes warm and weather-resistant

Perhaps a group of squirrels used a single nest in the winter; In summer, you may make a temporary nest, consisting only of a scattered heap of twigs and leaves. Squirrels live in all parts of the world except the regions of Australia, Madagascar, and the southern part of South America. Perhaps the smallest species of squirrels, the African dwarf squirrel, which is found in West Africa, weighs approximately 15 grams, reaches 8 cm in length and has a 5 cm long tail. While the giant Asian squirrels include the largest species of squirrels; Each is 85 cm long, including the tail

The squirrel is characterized by the ability to plan, collect and store food, and does so actively. One collects about 2,000 hazelnuts and pine cones and hides them in about 100 warehouses. The mother raises the young until they reach the age of ten weeks. And when spring comes, you're ready to get pregnant again. Naturally, the mother does not find all the caches to store food, but in the spring she is helped by the emergence of new plants

Tree squirrels are very cautious and active animals, and are most active during daylight hours, in contrast to most other rodents. They are also very annoying and reproach each other with loud cries, whistles, and annoying sounds. These behavioral manifestations are often associated with defending the area or food sources. These squirrels have strong and sharp claws, and the joints of both the wrist and ankle are very flexible, and they can walk attached to the bottom of the branches of trees in order to reach food, as well as descend from the tree trunk quickly in the run, and jump from branch to branch using their thick tail to keep their balance

In winter in Europe, the time of intercourse, the male enters the female's area - where both of them usually live alone - and jumps in front of her and dances in acrobatic movements to seduce her. And this dancing and jumping takes several days until the female agrees to intercourse. The couple stays together for several weeks, and after 38 days it is time to give birth and the female expels the male and does not allow him to remain in her area. The female gives birth to between two and seven young, and they are born with their eyes closed for a while
