Serpent

The snake / is a cold-blooded reptile that follows the order of the squamates. It has an elongated body, covered with scales, and has no limbs, or external ears, and eyelids, but there are edges in its body, which it is believed to represent its faded limbs

The snake is a carnivore there are 2700 species of it on Earth, spreading in all continents, except for Antarctica, and it is found in various lengths from 10 cm for small snakes to several meters for large snakes, such as the pedigree and anaconda that may reach a length of 6.95 m

Snakes, like other reptiles, have a body covered with scales of horny material, but it differs from it by its ability to strip the entire cortical cover of its body from time to time. The skeleton of most snakes is made of the skull, spine and ribs, noting that few snakes still have the remains of the pelvis and limbs

The formation of a snake's skull combines rigidity and flexibility, as its brain is well protected by a strong bone cover, while its jaws are highly flexible, and the lower jaw contains elastic ligaments as they expand to allow it to swallow prey of various sizes. A paragraph and not more than 400 paragraphs of which the number of vertebrae in the tail is a small percentage of less than 20% of the total number of paragraphs

The vertebrae of the snake are well connected to each other, and each vertebra has a protrusion that allows for an increase in muscle strength because it uses its body in movement instead of the limbs. As for the tail, its tail is coherent with its body as the snake does not have the ability to abandon the tail when necessary, as some lizards do, including leprosy, for example

The skin of the snake is covered with smooth, dry scales and installed in a way that allows it to move easily, especially the abdominal scales, which are positioned in a way that helps it to stay near the face of the earth when moving from one place to another. Vertebrae of a snake according to the number of back and abdomen scales. As for his eyes, he does not have eyelids and cannot blink his eyes and therefore they are covered with a polished crust layer that protects his eyes permanently

The snake from time to time sheds its crusty garment, a process called moulting, and it brings several benefits to the snake. First, the snake grows naturally and its garment becomes tight on it, so it is torn and damaged. Secondly, the snake gets rid of parasites such as ticks and moths and the snake is not the only animal that molts and changes its dress in order to renew the skin. That's some animals, especially insects

When the snake performs this process, the snake refrains from eating and chooses a safe place for it to start taking off its garment before molting its skin color changes, becomes dull and dry, its eyes become dark and bluish on its inner skin surface begins to melt, causing the old garment to separate from the new garment after several days, the snake begins to exit From the old garment, he begins to wriggle and rub his body with rough surfaces until his old garment is thrown out one piece as an old sock. Times a year

There are many degrees of vision in snakes between those who have poor vision who can hardly see and who are of average vision or sharp vision. It is noticed that snakes that live in trees have better vision than those that live in burrows and the ground and some snakes can see concentrically on one point like a snake. It can be said that snakes in general do not improve vision sufficiently, but they see enough to perceive their near environment or to follow prey

The sense of smell is the main sense, and it is the guide for the snake that it relies on to move and discover its outer middle, but it does not depend on the nose to perform this task. Instead, it uses its branched tongue to taste and smell together. Smell atoms from the surrounding environment and analyze them, so that it recognizes through the smell the surrounding environment and can locate the prey and it does so with the help of an organ called the Jacobson organ that analyzes the smells and sends it to the brain

The snake does not have an external ear, but rather an inner ear through which it hears the sounds of the ground waves. Also, when its stomach is attached to the ground, the snake can sense the vibrations that occur on the ground and in the air, and through it it can know the approaching animal. There are types of snakes that can sense the infrared rays, and with the help of thermal sensors located between the eyes and the nose, they can sense the temperature of the environment and distinguish the temperature of their prey from the heat of the environment
