عيسى وُلدت مريم -عليها السّلام- لأمّ وأب تقيّين مؤمنين بالله تعالى، فحين حملت أمّ مريم بابنتها دعت الله -عزّ وجلّ- أن يحمي ما في بطنها، ثمّ نذرته لوجه الله -تعالى- ليكون خادماً للدين وعابداً موحّداً، لكنّ الأمّ زوجة عمران عندما وضعت ما في بطنها تفاجأت بأنّها أنثى.  فتردّدت لأنّها نذرت ما في بطنها لله تعالى، لأنّ طبيعة الأنثى مختلفة عن الذكر في بعض الظروف، لكنّها توجّهت لله -تعالى- بالدعاء بأن يحميها وذرّيتها من شرّ الشيطان ورجسه.  حيث قال الله -تعالى- في وصف حال أم مريم عليها السّلام: (إِذْ قَالَتِ امْرَأَتُ عِمْرَانَ رَبِّ إِنِّي نَذَرْتُ لَكَ مَا فِي بَطْنِي مُحَرَّرًا فَتَقَبَّلْ مِنِّي إِنَّكَ أَنْتَ السَّمِيعُ الْعَلِيمُ*فَلَمَّا وَضَعَتْهَا قَالَتْ رَبِّ إِنِّي وَضَعْتُهَا أُنْثَى وَاللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا وَضَعَتْ وَلَيْسَ الذَّكَرُ كَالْأُنْثَى وَإِنِّي سَمَّيْتُهَا مَرْيَمَ وَإِنِّي أُعِيذُهَا بِكَ وَذُرِّيَّتَهَا مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ الرَّجِيمِ)،  ثمّ قامت بالبحث عمّن يكفلها لدين الله وتوحيده، فاقترع بنو إسرائيل لاختيار من يكفلها، وكان الكلّ يريد...
