Fishing in Egypt: -

Egypt is considered one of the countries rich in sources of fish wealth. Its location on the Red Sea on the eastern side, and its view of the Mediterranean Sea in the north in addition to the great Nile River, provided them with natural environments for fishing, in addition to lakes. Fish wealth in Egypt is considered one of the main sources of national income, and the fishing profession is very large in population. Rather, fishing is considered an old profession in which the Egyptian citizen worked ... from the days of the Pharaohs, where they recorded on the walls the fishing operations that they were doing ..

1- Saltwater Fishing:

They are marine fisheries in the Red Sea and the Mediterranean Sea, as these fisheries occupy the second rank of fish resources in Egypt after the lakes, where the Mediterranean fisheries constitute 12% of the total fish production, and it is one of the most fish-rich areas that have the appropriate environment for fishing It extends from the east of Alexandria to Port Said Port with a coastal length of about 360 km.

The low rate of fishing in the Mediterranean Sea is due to the high rate of pollution in the sea water, which reduces the reproduction of fish. As for the fisheries located in the Red Sea, they contribute 80% of the total annual output, especially in the Suez region. The bays of the Red Sea have been exploited by establishing tourist villages and practicing sport activities that reduce the reproduction of fish in the coastal areas. Therefore, fishing quantities in them are considered low.

2 - Freshwater fishing

These are the Nile traps, on which some humble fishers depend to secure a livelihood for themselves and their families, and they are another source of air fishing for the proximity of the Nile and its branches from the cities and villages ..

3- Fishing in the lakes:

The natural conditions for the reproduction of fish in the Egyptian lakes, such as the availability of food, and the moderate temperatures, make these lakes among the most fertile natural lakes in which fish reproduce, and among the best varieties: mullet, toubar, seabass, lute and shrimp.

Among the most important of these lakes is Bardawil Lake: the length of this lake is about 90 km, and a width ranging between 1-22 km, and an area of about 165 thousand acres. . Qarun Lake: Qarun Lake is located in Fayoum Governorate, with an area of 55,000 acres. This lake is one of the most beautiful Egyptian lakes, and it is a natural reserve, and the best types of fish live in it, despite being affected by pollution factors.

There are also many other lakes that contribute to increasing fish wealth in Egypt, such as: Lake Nasser, Lake Manzala, Lake Burullus, Lake Mariout, Lake Bitter, and Lake Timsah. It is also considered the course of the Nile River, and the channels branching of it from the most important sources of Egyptian fish wealth.
