South Sudan / is a landlocked country in Northeast Africa that gained its independence from Sudan in 2011. Its current capital is Juba, and it is also its largest city. It was planned that the capital would be changed to Ramchel, which is located in a more central location, before the outbreak of the civil war

 

  The Republic of South Sudan shares borders of nearly two thousand kilometers with each of Uganda, Kenya, Ethiopia, the Congo and Central Africa, and the country's area extends to more than 700 thousand km2 of the total area of ​​Sudan, which is 28% of the total area of ​​Sudan estimated at 2.5 million km2,


It has a population of about 21.6 million and is multi-dialect. Pastoral areas occupy a large area of ​​the total area of ​​southern Sudan, as it is estimated at 40% of the country's area, while agricultural lands extend to an area estimated at 30% of the total area of ​​the country, and the water area is only about 7% of the country's area.




South Sudan includes ten states, which were called regions in the past, and among the most important of these states are: Upper Nile State: The city of Malakal is the capital of the state, and includes ten provinces among them, in which 964,353 people reside over an area of ​​77,283 km2.

* Jonglei State: comes from twelve provinces, and Bor is the capital of the state, with a population of 1,358,602 people residing over an area of ​​122,581 km2.

* Unity State: Its capital is the city of Bentiu, and the state is divided into nine provinces, with a population of 585,801 people, and an area of ​​37,837 km2.


Lakes State: resides in 695,730 people, and takes Rumbek as its capital, occupies an area of ​​43,595 km2, and divides the state into eight provinces.

* Arab: It is divided into seven provinces. The city of Kwajok is the capital of the state, with a population of 972,928 people, and an area of ​​45,567 km2.

Northern Bahr El Ghazal: The state includes five provinces, and Oil is considered its capital, and its area extends to 30,543 km2, and its population reaches seven hundred twenty thousand eight hundred and ninety-eight people.

* Western Bahr El Ghazal: The city of Wau, the state capital, is divided into three provinces, in which 333,431 people reside over an area of ​​91,076 km2.

Central Equatoria State: This state is divided into six provinces, and it takes Juba as its capital. More than 1,103,557 people reside in its extended area of ​​43,033 km2. Western Equatoria State


South Sudan is a country rich in natural resources, and oil tops the list of exports, as this region concentrates the largest proportion of Sudan’s oil reserves in the past, which was estimated at 85%. Poverty is widespread in Southern Sudan

South Sudan is one of the administratively subordinate countries to the African continent, and it was established in the year 2011 AD on the ninth day of July, and is officially known as the Republic of South Sudan.

Its official currency is the South Sudanese pound, which is symbolized as ssp. Sudan belongs to many organizations such as the International Finance Corporation, the African Development Bank, the International Center for Conflict Resolution Advisory, the International Development Association, the African Union, the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency, and the United Nations.

Its population has reached nearly eight million people, and its inhabitants speak English, which is the official language in the country. They also speak Arabic, and some local languages ​​such as the Ngok Dinka language, the Nuer language, the Tok Jeng language, the Nduqu language, the Golo language, the Seri language, and the language of Poland, And the Bay language, the Shluk language, and the Dinka language. As for the religion, most of its inhabitants owe the Christian faith, including the Anglican and Catholic communities, and minorities who adhere to the pagan religion and the Islamic religion.
