Belize


Belize / is the largest city in Belize and was the former capital of the British province of Honduras. According to the 2010 census, the city has a population of 57,169 people spread over 16,162 families. It is located at the mouth of the Hulver Valley, one of the tributaries of the Belize River


Britain granted Honduras colony self-rule in 1964, and George Price, a member of the United People's Party, became prime minister. The name of the colony changed, and it became Belize in 1973, and it gained independence from Britain on September 21, 1981. The United Democratic Party won the majority of votes in the House of Representatives elections in 1984, and its leader, Manuel Esqueville, became Prime Minister, succeeding George Price. In 1989, Price became, again, Prime Minister. In 1993, Esqueville was elected prime minister again



Guatemala strongly protested Britain for granting Belize independence because, since it had gained independence from Spain in 1821, it had been claiming Belize's dependency on it. In 1993, Britain announced the withdrawal of its forces from Belize

Belize has an area of ​​23 thousand square km, and the population is about 266,440 people. Its beaches on the Caribbean and the Gulf of Honduras are 386 km long. Is the only country in Central America that speaks English. In the south of the country there are some low mountain ranges such as the Maya mountain range, in which Victoria has the highest peak in the country, reaching a height of about 1160 m. The climate of the country is tropical, that is, very hot and humid throughout the year, and the rainy season is between February and May

The coastal areas of Belize are lowlands covered by swamps. On the coast there are many islands and long rocks. The marine ridge is a barrier or rock chain, some of which are submerged under the surface of the water, while others are prominent above it. This reef has no name, and is considered the second longest marine reef in the world after the Great Reef, located off the east coast of the continent of Australia

Inside Belize, and in the south in particular, the land gradually rises up to the lower Maya Mountains; Among the peaks of this series is the summit of Victoria, which represents the highest place in Belize, rising above 1,122 meters from the sea, and the land in northern Belize is flat. There are many forests, but many of them have been logged to benefit from their woods and to grow other crops in their place. Belize River is 290 km long, and it is the only waterway that runs through this country to the east

The climate in Belize is hot, humid, and the temperature in the coast ranges between 15.6 ° C and 32 ° C, and often more than that. Rain falls inside the country daily, except for the dry season that runs from February to May. The annual precipitation reaches 130 cm in the north, while in the south it reaches 380 cm. The country is sometimes ravaged by a hurricane known as a rainstorm

Belize is a developing country, with an economy dependent on agriculture, and sugar cane grown on farms is the country's first crop. As for refined sugar, it represents the main source. Farmers also grow bananas, grapefruit, lemon, and oranges. Forests produce wood such as pine, hard tropical wood such as cedarella and mahogany, and the Caribbean Sea is found with shells, fish, lobster, and shrimp. It has small industries that include sugar refining, food, wood, clothing production, cement and brick

Belize receives financial assistance from other countries, the government encourages foreign investment to find job opportunities, and the Belizeans work hard to develop tourism, establish hotels and provide facilities for tourists
