The main cities of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia are approximately 14 cities: -


Makkah Al-Mukarramah: the holy city and the kiss of Muslims, located on the western side. And its population is estimated at more than a million and a half

Al-Madinah Al-Munawwarah: The holy and incubator city of the Messenger of God Mosque and the tomb of the Prophet of Islam is located in it. This holy city embraces most of the most famous Islamic mosques, such as the Quba Mosque, and the Qiblatan Mosque. With an estimated population of more than one million people, with thousands of visitors there, the city is located in the west of the Kingdom


Riyadh: The capital and seat of government is located in the center of the Kingdom, and its population is estimated at more than five million

Jeddah: The second largest Saudi city, with an estimated population of more than three million people. It is considered the economic and tourist capital of the Kingdom as well as the gateway to the Two Holy Mosques. And it is visited by tourists during vacation days


Dammam: It is located in the eastern region, which is the country's eastern port overlooking the Arabian Gulf. And near them, he discovered the first oil well, known as well No. 7 (currently called Bir al-Khair), and that was in 1937 AD. After the discovery, Dammam grew and grew its importance and became the center of oil field management (whether marine in the Gulf or wild waters in the deserts of the Empty Quarter and oats) and its population is estimated at more than one million population

Al-Baha: It is the capital of the Al-Baha region and the seat of the emirate, located in the Hejaz Mountains in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia between longitude 41/42 and latitude 19/20 and represents a middle location between the tourist areas in the Kingdom, where it is bordered on the north and west by the Makkah region and on the south and east by the Asir region


Al-Ahsa: In the eastern region, it is one of the sites registered in the list of UNESCO's Human and World Heritage, and the Arab Tourism Capital for 2019. It is famous for the eyes as it is an agricultural oasis with many palm trees

Jizan: It is located in the southwestern part of the Kingdom, and is considered the second city on the Red Sea coast in terms of area. It is called the Pearl of the South and it is also called the Kingdom's food basket because it contains many food sources. It has a sea port that transports passengers to and from the Farasan Islands in addition to shipping goods and commodities. And near it is Jazan Economic City



Saudi Arabia is distinguished by the diversity of its terrain as a result of its large area that makes up most of the lands of the Arabian Peninsula, and has passed through the ages with successive geological stages, and great climate changes. There are different terrain, where there are mountain heights, valleys, sand dunes, plateaus and plains, located along the coast of the Red Sea, the plain of Tihama with a length of about 1100 km

To the east, the Sarawat mountain range rises between 9,000 feet in the south and the height gradually decreases whenever it heads north to 3000 feet, and several valleys descend from east and west. In an area interspersed with Wadi Al-Dawasir and adjacent to the desert of the Empty Quarter

From the north, the plains of Najd extend to the region of Hail, until it connects to the Nafud desert, then to the borders of Iraq and Jordan, as well as there are some mountain highlands such as the Tuwaiq Mountains, Al-Arid, Aga and Salma mountains. Sandy and marshes. The eastern coastal plain on the Arabian Gulf consists of salt marshes and sandy areas

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has three waterfronts with a total coastline of about 3800 km, one on the Gulf of Aqaba and the Red Sea, and the other on the Arabian Gulf. The kingdom overlooks from the west on the coast of the Gulf of Aqaba and the Red Sea, from the borders of Jordan in the north to the borders of the Republic of Yemen in the south, with a coastline of about 2,600 km. It also looks to the east from the Arabian Gulf with two sea fronts

One is northern, starting from the border with Kuwait to the border with Qatar on the Doha Salwa coast with a length of about 1100 km, and the other south starts from the border with Qatar on the Gulf of Al Adeed to the border with the United Arab Emirates on the Doha Al Samira coast with a length of about 100 km

The length of the Kingdom's coasts has been reflected on the number of its affiliated islands, as the total number of Saudi islands in the Gulf of Aqaba, the Red Sea and the Arabian Gulf is about 1285 different size islands. The Gulf of Aqaba and the Red Sea includes about 1150 islands, which represent about 89% of the total islands of the Kingdom, while the Arab Gulf includes about 135 islands, representing about 11% of the total islands of the Kingdom. Most of the Saudi islands are concentrated near the coasts due to the expansion of the continental shelf
